Special Olympic Winter Games
Thesis Statement: The NY Special Olympic winter games promotes the strong connections between athletes and others as well as an appreciation for the games.
For this slideshow, I started out with the selects I had already edited down from four photographers’ multiple takes during the weekend of the special olympics. The first time through, I wanted to find images that showed the connections between the athletes and the people along with shots of competitors in action. The next time through, I edited out repeated themes and images, and looked for strong pictures of the emotions associated with the games rather than the focusing on the sports themselves. For the sequencing, with the images I had chosen, I thought it best to organize them in terms of the process from start to finish. For the print spread, I thought it best to highlight some of the stronger moments specifically the emotion and the spirit of the games. I wanted to show how it feels to be an athlete and the love and support of their families and coaches.
